For lovers of African Arts and History 

The Victoria and Albert Museum or V&A as commonly known, are having volunteering guided tours of Black people and Art through 1600 – 1815 in Britain.

~ Titled “Mysterious Spectacle: The African Representation in European Art”, this will be a Free talk & guided tour to be held on Saturday 4 February, 15.00 – 16.00

The Talk will be on “An exploration of images of Africans in European Art from 1600 – 1815. The rise of the transatlantic slave trade and the presence of black people in Europe, illustrated in varied artefacts and paintings”.

The “concept of the exotic African image and its significance in European culture”, led by Joy Johnson will be considered.

~ Guided tours showcasing Black People between 1600 and 1815 will also be held on Friday/Saturday afternoons between 3-4 and 7.30-8.30, until March 2017.

The Victoria & Albert Museum 

The V&A is the world’s largest museum of decorative arts and design.

Founded in 1852 it houses more than 4.5 million objects.

Entrance to the Museum has been free since 2001.

It is located in Cromwell Road in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
